A basic rice recipe takes on flavorful and versatile characteristics with the addition of Saffron-Rose Spice Blend. Many types of rice exist, though we like Basmati for its fluffy, fragrant nature.
Cook time: 20 minutes
11/2 cups Basmati rice (or your choice; cooking times may vary)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon Saffron-Rose Spice Blend
3 cups water or stock of your choice
4 tablespoons minced onion (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
- In a medium skillet, over medium-high heat olive oil. If using onion, sauté for 1 minute and then add rice and spice Blend. Stirring to coat rice well, cook for 1 additional minute to lightly toast rice.
- Add liquid, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cover with a tight-fitting lid. Set a timer for 20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Fluff with fork and serve.
Variations: This recipe lends itself easily to a one pot meal. Just add cooked meats, veggies, or dried fruits—15 minutes into cook time, stir in your choice of additions and replace lid to finish cooking.
